Good to see Van touring again, and hitting some places in the South that he hasn't been to for some time.

I think the band line up will be pretty much as it was last Autumn.

I was wondering if any of you knew why new Van Morrison uploads to youtube have not been taken down yet by the record company. Brown Eyed Girl has been up for two months, and in the past weeks there have been more uploads of original VM material.

I just heard Van Morrison at The Gorge Amphitheatre last night and was very disappointed to say the least. I love the man's music, but come on, if you're going to tour and do live performances, at least pretend you're grateful for your fans and sort of like what you are doing. Good grief, the man didn't say a word to the audience, when he came on stage, played rather half-heartedly and then left in the middle of GLORIA just as apparently he did in Vancouver and was never seen nor heard from again despite the clamor of the fans for more.

I was also at the Gorge on Aug. 8. Van is Van, and most people should know by now that he doesn't interact with the audience. I thought the concert was fantastic! I loved every minute of it. His music has been a part of my life for over 40 years, from the days of my youth dancing at parties and shouting out G-L-O-R-I-A, to him telling my to "stay a while with my own ones" in "Irish Heartbeat." His body of work is amazing. He is an outstanding poet and musician. So see him perform in person was a rare treat for me. So what if he doesn't jump around on the stage and shout out to the audience. He is not that kind of a performer. He seems content to be himself, something we should all strive for. It's all about the music and that did not disappoint. At the end, "Gloria" had the crowd up dancing and shouting, anything after that would have been anti-climatic.

Thanks Van, for a wonderful evening!

Are there any other reviews of The Gorge show for posting? How about the setlist? Thanks.

My first Van Morrison show was in San Diego in the summer of 1971. He walked out, played his music, said nothing and walked off. So he as at least consistent.

I've been to hundreds of concerts (including many trips to the Fillmore in the 60's) and it is still to this day the best show I ever saw. Enjoy the music! I never enjoy the forced encores and fake "Hello Seattle" call outs myself.

Thanks for posting the set list. Maybe I'm confused, I listened to a lot of VM on the trip to and back from the gorge, but wasn't Little Village in there some place?

I was at the Gorge show as well, which was my first Van show but hopefully not last. The friend I went with predicted a "spiritual" evening, which it was for me. As for Van's stage presence, I'd rather hear his music in its fullness than hear him make small talk with the audience. Seems to me he's just concentrating on the music and the band, and it shows! Besides, he did give what looked like a grateful bow before he left the stage - enough for me. I've been to many shows at the Gorge, which is a fantastic place for music, and this was one of my few favorites. Van awoke spirits there that have been slumbering for many years, and I'm glad we were there to hear them!

I was also at the Gorge to hear Van's brilliant performance and I have to say besides the awful location, besides the jackasses who work there and, most importantly, besides the idiots who decided to talk over Van's performance, it was spectacular. Van still has everything he always had and more. His voice is as rich and vibrant as ever. The band was fantastic as well - that sort of goes without saying I think.

I too was at the Gorge show and now, fully a year and a half later, it is still stands out as one of the most disappointing I've ever been to.

Strange too, because the sound was flawless - to the point of disbelief. I realized that I'll forego that flawlessness for a bit of personality - just something to show us he's real.

You see, from our seats all we could tell is there was a black clad person on stage, and since there wasn't any form of a screen, and with the anti-camera rules fully enforced, for all I know it could have been anyone down there and the whole thing was pre-recorded.

So while I can now say I have seen the legend (I think) - next time I'll just bypass the concert and pull out a CD - as I'll get the same satisfaction.
